Thanksigving was pretty much fantastic. I was off for five days. I spent Wednesday cleaning my apartment and doing laundry. Oh, and of course, making Jello Shots. I woke up on Thursday morning and tried to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade... but I couldn't. I used to love it but I couldn't stand the cheesy announcers. I tolerated it for a while but once Miley Cyrus came on... it was over. I switched over to Miracle on 34th Streer and enjoyed that a lot more.
I popped the Turkey in the oven. Steevin, Cathy and Shaun made it over around 530pm. The boys hooked up my new surround sound speakers Steevin bought for me (which mysteriously raises and lowers the volume all on its own) while Cathy and I attended to serious Girl stuff... looking at the Black Friday ads. Matt came over soon and then it was time to eat. We had turkey, enchiladas (Cathy), potatoes (Matt... these are some of my favorite), rolls, and cranberry sauce (Shaun). In fact, Shaun impressed us all by making the gravy for us and carving the turkey. Shavonne came over and ate too and then we all played Rock Band and then Sceen It. And then Steevin made his dessert... Steeve's Creamy Delight (or something along those lines). LOL! We were all very afraid as Steevin is know for his odd food concoctions.... but it turned out to be Pumpkin Pie Milkshakes and it was REALLY good.
We watched Baby Mama (Ooo ooo!) and then Shavonne headed home. The rest of us stayed up and took about an hour nap before waking up at 330am. It was time to shop! We got our tea and then Matt drove us all to the Crossings. Khols was our first stop. I found a shirt I wanted but that was all and after standing in the never ending line for 30 minutes and moving about 3 feet we decided to screw it and move onto more important things... Starbucks.
Cathy, Matt and I went to get coffee and Shaun and Steevin went to Game Stop. Then we headed over to Best Buy where we all found stuff we needed. The lines were much more organized and fast moving there. And the employees were wearing war paint. Too cute. LOL! Target was the next stop. More shopping. Got the cutest socks ever there.
We were done with The Crossing and it was finally light outside. We headed to the Mall and after a brief potty stop we headed to the food court for breakfast. We were approached by some Mall employees to be in their video about Black Friday. We each got a $5 gift certificate to talk about our "worst present ever". Yay for free money! We shopped till our hearts content and then headed back home. We played Sceen It again. Shaun fell asleep with the controller in his hand. It was adorable. LOL! He took a nap on the floor while we finished our game.
Matt headed home and the rest of us piled into Steevin's car with leftovers on our laps and went down to Vista for Round 2 of Thanksgiving dinner with Steevin's family. Cathy and I managed about a 40 minute nap on the sofa before dinner. After dinner Gretchen came over and we played some more Sceen It and then headed over to my Uncle's house to visit, see my Grandpa who was in town and to play pictionary. We finally got home to Steevin's about 1230am. In case you're wondering... that means I got up Thursday at 830am and didn't sleep again (save for about an hour and a half total in brief naps) until 1230am on Saturday. I was tired!
We slept in on Saturday, made a 7-11 run, showered and then didn't move again until 9pm for Karaoke. It was Steevin, Me, Cathy, Shaun and Gretchan. It was missing a little something since Zach wasn't there. But he and Jon met up with us later at Denny's. After our late night dinner (mmmm...Super Bird!) we passed out hugs since Gretchen was heading back to LA for school and I will be gone next weekend.
Sunday was a nice lazy day. I was up early for some reason. I played with Finoa the cat and looked at pictures from the night before. I got up to use the restroom and Steeve's mom was making breakfast. Steevin finally got up and we had Bunuelos (I think thats how you spell it) which is a traditional Christmas dish. Anyway... it was very tasty. And we had some hot cocoa. We decided to be lazy and drove back up to my place in our PJ's and got ready there. We had a late lunch/early dinner at Wahoo's. Then the rest of the evening was spent with Steevin playing on his new laptop and watching Lost. (Ha! I got him hooked. Heehee!)
Yesterday was super fun. Mark, Matt, Brian and I all hung out. We started out the day with a trip to Time Warner Cable and then a stop at Mark's parents house to instal the cable boxes we picked up. Matt and I entertained ourselves by admiring how Brian's car gave our reflections extrordinarily large asses. Mark told me I looked cute yesterday. He obviously did not see my reflection in the Tornado.
Yes, I've decided to name Brian's car the Tornado. Its grey and you never know which way its going to turn. I'll show you how we all looked in Brian's car:
To be fair I was sitting behind Brian so I can't be 100% sure he was blindfolded... but I think he was. (LOL! Brian you know we tease because we care. Thanks for being our chauffuer yesterday!!!!! Especially with gas prices and the gas companies sticking their wieners up our butts and all that.)
We headed to Victoria Gardens. It was a really nice day. We ate lunch at the Corner Bakery. Mark bought me lunch. It was SO good. I love their trio of salads. We hit up Urban Outfitters and I found lots of stuff I wish I could afford for the apartment. LOL! We of course had to look at the puppies and Mark and I found this amazing pet brush we wanted to get for Mable but it was over $40!! That is insanity.
We stopped at the candy store and Mark was like... well... a kid in the candy store. He bought me a chocolate bar and then got a bag of assorted candy to share. Mmmm... that chocolate hit the spot! Then we went to Crate and Barrel and tried out ever single piece of furniture they had there. Oh man... we found the worlds most heavenly sofa ever.
After we exhausted Victoria Gardens of all its free fun we headed to BevMo and looked at all sorts of fun drinks we'd like to try when cash is flowing more freely. Matt got a Japanese soda, Mark got an energy drink and Brian got 4 tiny bottles of booze.
Out tummies were rumbling again so Mark suggested Souplantation. YUM! More salad for me. We all ate our fill and then ate dessert. Thanks for dinner, Marffy! And then we stoped at the video game store so Mark could buy Halo 3. Back at the apartment we entertained ourselves with YouTube and Get Smart until I had to go to bed because 330am comes way too early in the morning.
ex·haust·ed
v. tr
- To wear out completely.
- To drain of resources or properties; deplete.
I am exhausted. Packing, moving and then unpacking can really take a lot out of you. Add onto that a tempreature of about a million degrees and a scared kitty who wakes you up at 230am and that equals one tired Beth.
Mark and I packed hardcore on Wednesday. We started off the day right with breakfast at Mimi's. The plan was to form our plan of attack on the the packing but in reality it just was us talking and laughing and just generally enjoying ourselves. We finally headed back to the apartment and started in earnest. We through out HUGE bags of junk that we just didn't want or need anymore and we're going to donate or sell a mountain of books. We finished up about 5pm and then Mark and I visited for a little big longer before he headed to have dinner with his grandma and the rest of his family. Matt came over later in the evening and we had ice cream and entertained ourselves with youtube videos.
Thursday moring I was up early, got ready and then Mark and I went to rent the Uhaul truck. That was surprisingly quick and painless seeing as how last time we rented on it took us three years to get throught the line. We stopped at the bank but it wasn't open yet so we did the only logical thing and got donuts. After our frosted round cakes of joy we headed back to the bank, got money and then tried to go sign the lease paperwork. But the office was still closed. So we did the only logical thing and played video games. Finally the office was open and we went in and I signed my initials a trillion times, promised to give them my first born if Mable pooped in the apartment and gave them my kidney as a deposit, I had my keys. I gave one to Mark, we texted Matt to meet us at the apartment and then the real fun began.
It was over 100 degrees yesterday. It was beyond melty. And I was a moroon and wore jeans. At least I had the foresight to wear a tank top. We got everything to the new place with only 4 trips. Matt had to go to work in the middle of the move so Mark and I finished up. We dropped the truck off and then tried to get the cable and internet set up but Time Warner is stupid and put some peoples address in wrong so they think someone ELSE lives in the apartment instead of me. They're supposed to get it fixed today so hopefully that works. Mark and I had Miguel's for dinner. It was SO good! And then we watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade while begining to unpack. And today after work we'll finish that and pick up a few straggling items and vacuum with my wonderful new maching and we're DONE. Then we just got to work on making then new place... homey.
Mark and I had a very tasty breakfast at Denny's yesterday. Except for the oatmeal. Do not get oatmeal at Denny's. Firstly, they were out of Brown Sugar. Who runs out of brown sugar? And who expects people to eat oatmeal WITHOUT brown sugar? That is the best part. To top our oatmeal we were brought a glass of milk and a lump of butter. When the oatmeal finally arrived it was literally swimming in water. Honestly, how do you screw up oatmeal? That in itself is a talent. Thankfully the rest of the breakfast was very tasty. I love hashbrowns!
Mark and I then made the short trek to Target where we bought Mother's Day cards for Mothers. As well as... a vacuume cleaner! I'm so excited. I haven't got to try it out yet but I'm betting it doesn't squeel like a banshee when you turn it on or smell like burnt rubber when used. The hand-me-down we got from Matt was a good vacuume for a while but it just finally died. The new one is bagless and its clear so I can see all the gross stuff it sucks up. w00t! Is it weird to be excited by a vacuum?
With errands ran we picked up Mark's mom and took her to the Dr's for some tests she needed and then went to a video game store, which instead of smelling like sweaty little boys, smells like Panda Express. I'm not sure that's any better. Mark used some store credit and some Christmas money he still had squireled away to buy Grand Theft Auto 4. Then we met Matt at the PET store in the mall. (Due to a text message error Matt thought we wanted to meet at the "sex" store and was quite concerned) We looked around there at things we couldn't afford, got Matt's mom a card and were accosted by the Cell Phone Dudes at the kiosks.
Mark and I had to pick up his mom and Matt had to run to Target. So we met up a bit later at the apartment and Matt brought a brand new Monopoly game. I was the Timble and rocked both of them. Uncle Pennybags (Or Stanley Monopoly as his mother named him at birth...thank you Wikipedia) would have been proud of my cunning deals that resulted me owning almost every property. The evening was topped off by Veggie Burgers at Farmer Boys. Yum! Though poor Mark ended the evening after that with a migrain. Poor guy!
