Yesterday was Wednesday. And you know what that means! Its the one day Mark and I get a WHOLE day off together to hang out. Usually we wait until the last minute to decide how we plan to spend our day. Yesterday was no exception. Ideas were tossed around. Disneyland was mentioned. But in the end we decided to stick close to home and go to the mall.
While you may think to yourself that the mall doesn't sound all that exciting, the specialness of Wednesdays does not come from what we do... its all about the quality time we get to spend together. So to the mall we went. It was actually a very productive trip. We of course had to stop and look at the puppies. They're awefully cute but they just can't top the cuteness factor of our Mable Kitty. Sorry puppies... she's tough competition.
We were on a mission to find some clothes. We're going to Vegas in a month for Braden's 21st birthday and thanks to our new no meat policy we've both lost weight. Our summer-time clothes just don't fit any more. Actually we didn't get that many new clothes. Just a shirt for Mark and a pair of shorts for me but we're frugal so we're looking for good deals. We still have a month so we've got time.
Now here is the exciting part... the shorts I bought myself... size 1! Holy cow! I cannot remember the last time (if ever) I wore a size 1. After we bought our new slimmer clothes we went and got lunch... pizza. LOL! But to be fair we just got one slice each and a salad. Of course after that we went to Cinnebon. Uh...I wonder if I still fit into those new shorts.
Next stop was Radio Shack for a Universal remote. For some reason my remote from Time Warner just stopped working the other day and no amount of new batteries, smashing buttons as hard as I could or throwing the stupid thing at the wall would fix it. It was well worth the $15 for a new remote to avoid calling Time Warner and dealing with their incompetence.
The rest of the day was spent back at home, watching TV, dinking around on the internet tubes, singing and playing guitar and snuggling on the sofa. Truly a wonderful day!
Mark and I didn't go to ride Toy Story Midway Mania on Friday. Unfortunatly, tickets were lost, never to be seen again. Mark felt super bad but I kept telling himself not to beat himself up over it. The important thing was that we still got to hang out together.
We decided to do dinner and a movie. We parked our cars at the theater and in order to not be lazy, gas guzzling Americans we walked our asses down to Chevy's for some Mexican food. They had lots of meat-free options so it was really good. Plus we each had two margaritas which made it even better. I got a regular Margarita on the rocks with salt (the best way to have them!) and Mark had this really good watermelon margarita. Mmmm! Both were quite tasty.
After dinner we headed back up to the theater and got tickets to see Prince Caspian. It was a good movie but the begining was a tiny bit slow. And we were sitting in front of the worlds LOUDEST snackers ever. I swear it was like watching a movie with 5 Cookie Monsters behind you. Crunch! Crunch! Crackle! Opening up this package as loud as I can! Munch! Pass the popcorn! Pass the Red Vines! Slurp! Chomp! Ugh! Shut up!!! LOL! It was terrible.
On Saturday I semi-entertained myself until Mark got off work. And then we went to try this new Thai place at Dos Lagos. It was REALLY good. We had these apetizers called Golden Tofu and it was soft tofu, deep fried with a very tasty tamarind sauce. And then we had this AMAZING garden fried rice with tomatos, snow peas and cashews. Our lease favorite dish was probably the Vegetable Pad Thai. It was good but not flavored how we usually think of Pad Thai. But that's ok because we decided we could just eat the tofu and the rice in the future and be totally satisfied.
After Thai food we took Mark's car for a car wash. It amazes me how we can have fun doing the most mundane things.
Yesterday was a day of super boredom and phones acting up. I'm ready for a new phone!
I love having days off with Mark. Its awesome having one day a week where we can count on hanging out and having a fun today together. Of course we hang out a lot of other times through out the week but its nice having a set day. Its something to look forward to.
Yesterday we were going to do something "fun" with Matt but due to lack of planning, cell phones not getting texts, late arrivals due to drug running (ie. getting a prescription filled) and getting caught up in the worlds most ridiculous TV show we got a late start and didn't have much time to go much further than our own backyard. So we went to Ontario Mills Mall.
We wandered a bit and had a general good time. We got to go to the Virgin Mega Store, and we had to go to the smelly boy store (Game Stop) and we went to Cost Plus World Market where Mark and Matt bought Japanese soda pop. I thought it tasted like good cleaning solution. It tasted very fresh. LOL! But Mark wasn't a huge fan so I ended up drinking most of it.
We ate lunch at the Olive Garden. The girl who took us to our table had the worlds scariest hair. It looked like a huge rats nest with four large black rat tails poking out the bottom. I don't know why her mother let her leave the house looking like that. Mark and I were very afraid of it. But Matt was oblivious. We also had a really rude waiter who just kind of threw things on the table and grated half the cheese directly into my lap. Mmmmm...Parmesean Crotch! And THEN there was the issue with the lights... Bright....dim...bright...off...dim. As Matt says "Dimmer switch!!!!" It was a strange lunch to be sure but my soup, salad and bread sticks were oh-so-very-good! Thanks for lunch, Mark! OH! Plus we each got TWO Andee's Mints! Mmmmm!
We went to Target and I was able to get a frame for my awesome aerial photo of the Disneyland Resort that Mark bought me. We also hit up Starbucks where the man running the cash register called everyone either "young man" or "young lady" about 500 times through out the transaction and the woman barista who shouted at the top of her lungs every time she spoke. We decided to take the coffee home to avoid the annoying-ness there. Also it was here where I discovered I had been sitting on a Box Cutter all day in Matt' car. Thankfully my ass is still in pristine condition.
We framed my picture and hung it. It looks great! And we played ourselves som Uno. We discussed Las vegas and the concert we want to go to in July. Matt left to meet his dad for dinner and Mark played music on his guitar and I sung along. And then we co-designed the tattoo we want to get. I really like it! Now... to find the right place to get it done...
Mark and I took a trip to Target on Saturday. The living room of the new apartment was in desperate need of some additional light. So having just got paid and having the tiniest bit of spending cash we took a trek to the land of deals. We found the perfect one that even has a little shelf space and I fell in love with it.
Mark and I got dinner at Rubio's which was very good by the way. I didn't even miss the steak on my quesadillia that much. And then we went home and put together the lamp which was surprisingly easy. Mark and I always seem to have a hard time putting things together. There was the Table Trouble, the Chair Crisis and of course who can forget the BBQ Bungle which nearly resulted in the BBQ being chucked out the window. But this lamp was meant for the living room and went together as easy as pie. I'm glad I had Mark there to help me though as I could never have reached the top of the lamp to finish it by myself. LOL!
I promise... pictures of the apartment to come soon.
Yesterday was super fun. Mark, Matt, Brian and I all hung out. We started out the day with a trip to Time Warner Cable and then a stop at Mark's parents house to instal the cable boxes we picked up. Matt and I entertained ourselves by admiring how Brian's car gave our reflections extrordinarily large asses. Mark told me I looked cute yesterday. He obviously did not see my reflection in the Tornado.
Yes, I've decided to name Brian's car the Tornado. Its grey and you never know which way its going to turn. I'll show you how we all looked in Brian's car:
To be fair I was sitting behind Brian so I can't be 100% sure he was blindfolded... but I think he was. (LOL! Brian you know we tease because we care. Thanks for being our chauffuer yesterday!!!!! Especially with gas prices and the gas companies sticking their wieners up our butts and all that.)
We headed to Victoria Gardens. It was a really nice day. We ate lunch at the Corner Bakery. Mark bought me lunch. It was SO good. I love their trio of salads. We hit up Urban Outfitters and I found lots of stuff I wish I could afford for the apartment. LOL! We of course had to look at the puppies and Mark and I found this amazing pet brush we wanted to get for Mable but it was over $40!! That is insanity.
We stopped at the candy store and Mark was like... well... a kid in the candy store. He bought me a chocolate bar and then got a bag of assorted candy to share. Mmmm... that chocolate hit the spot! Then we went to Crate and Barrel and tried out ever single piece of furniture they had there. Oh man... we found the worlds most heavenly sofa ever.
After we exhausted Victoria Gardens of all its free fun we headed to BevMo and looked at all sorts of fun drinks we'd like to try when cash is flowing more freely. Matt got a Japanese soda, Mark got an energy drink and Brian got 4 tiny bottles of booze.
Out tummies were rumbling again so Mark suggested Souplantation. YUM! More salad for me. We all ate our fill and then ate dessert. Thanks for dinner, Marffy! And then we stoped at the video game store so Mark could buy Halo 3. Back at the apartment we entertained ourselves with YouTube and Get Smart until I had to go to bed because 330am comes way too early in the morning.
Mark took me out for a wonderful evening yesterday. He ER'd and got home about 430pm. Poor guy... he was so exhausted he fell asleep for a bit while I cooked dinner. He looked so peaceful I felt bad waking him but he said he felt better after the nap.
We ate and then headed to The Crossing to hang out before the movie. Mark bought us both Starbucks. Yum! As I have not been spending any money at all this was a very yummy treat. The lady taking our order was very nice though I think she may have had one to many shots of espresso. She was very.... energetic. I was wearing my Soulmates shirt:
However when we got out of Starbucks sipping on our Venti Caramel Macchiatos Mark explained to me that it was I who was the cheese and he who was the macaroni. "Well the Macaroni is kind of shaped like a wiener which I have and the cheese had more holes and you have more holes then I do." He explained. You know... it makes a lot of sense when you think of it that way. LOL As long as we're soulmates I'm ok with being the cheese. Haha!
With coffee in hand we decided to get our tickets for Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Crystal Skull. There was a scary clown at the entrance of the theater with crazy feathery hair, big pink shoes and the worlds longest eyelashes ever. It was terrifying. In fact it was so scary I didn't even think about taking her picture . It was horrible. We snuck around her and found an automated ticket buying thingy that was working and Mark bought us tickets.
We had time before the movie so we went to Barnes and Noble and Best Buy. We entertained ourselves there for a while. Soon it was time for the movie and we headed back to the theater. We totally enjoyed the movie! Skip the next part if you haven't seen it:

I thought the beginning of the movie had a little to much "Wink wink... nudge nudge. Indy's old! Isn't that funny?"
I thought the part where Mutt (who's name I thought was Mudd all the way until I got home) was flying though the jungle Tarzan style with the monkeys was way to corny and pointless.
But those are my two very minor quibbles. On the whole I thought it was what every Indy movie should be. Fun, adventurous, based on myth and Indy getting the girl in the end. Was it a work of art? A masterpiece? No. But none of the other Indy movies were either. They were fun rides and Mark and I enjoyed our rides on this newest one!
********************************The End*******************************************
Mark and I headed home and watched The Simpsons and played with Mable. It was a really fun evening. Thanks for taking me out Marffy!
There are some things about the human race that baffles me. For example: people who try to ruin others relationships, wars with no apparent end or reason, those who make fun of people less fortunate than themselves and people who LIKE mayo. These are just a few things than boggle my mind about people and the human race in general.
But a few days ago I ran into another one that just blew my mind. Two months ago, when I had my passing out incident in Disney's California Adventure, I happened to run into a fellow who works on my floor. He was working at the cove bar for a part time job. I wasn't sure if it was the same guy but I was pretty sure because I thought he looked like The Great Gazoo from the Flinstones and I always think that about the guy at my work.
So... not wanting to be rude (and because Mark kept telling me to ask if he worked at my company... I think he wanted free drinks) I asked if he was who I thought he was. He was, we briefly exchanged names and I introduced Mark and Matt and then we went about our business. (Come to think of it... I REALLY hope I didn't call him the Great Gazoo... I can't remember much about that day. Stupid Passing Out erasing my memory of the day!)
So anyway... blah, blah, blah... I pass out, puke, get wheeled around DCA past a mariachi band and the Tortilla Factory, apparently tell a poor Disney Nurse to shut up, ride in an ambulance, get some IVs stuck into me, have to pee like mad, shake like a alligator in Antarctica and cry to Mark who was very good to me and watched over me. (Seriously... one of my scariest days ever!)
Yadda, Yadda, Yadda... so when I finally feel up to going back to work a few days later The Great Gazoo stops by my desk to see how I was because apparently the word of my unfortunate incident traveled all the way back to him and his fellow Cast Members. So I thanked him for checking on me and assured him that though I was shook up, I was quite fine.
I assume that’s the end of it. But no... a few minutes later a little IM pops up on my screen (we have an internal Instant Messaging system at my work). And for the next several weeks he IM's me, asks for my phone number, asks if I want to go get drinks and always HAPPENS to be clocking out at the exact same time I do. First I try the subtle approach:
The Great Gazoo: So do you want to get a drink sometime this week?
Beth: Oh... um... well... this week is really busy for me.
TGG: Some other time then?
Beth: (Thinking: CRAP!) I don't know when I'm going to have any free time. I'm moving in... uh... 2 months. So I...uh...you know... got a lot to do.
I mean... that's a pretty poor excuse right? I figured he'd get the hint and he could just let it go with some dignity. But you see... I forgot the very first rule of the Male Species. RULE #1 - Men have no concept of subtlety. Everything you say and do must be said straight out in the bluntest way possible or the entire meaning with fly over their heads.
Sufficed to say, he did not get my not-so-hidden meaning and continued to ask about going out and hanging out and getting drinks and ignoring my lame-ass excuses. Finally, I just couldn't take it any more and told him firmly yet kindly that I just wasn't interested, thankyouverymuch. He finally understood. At least I think so because he stopped IMing me.
And then... I didn't see him for two weeks. Not even around the building or in passing. It was quite the relief. But on Tuesday, I saw him around the office and we happened to clock out of work at the same time and I was stuck waiting for the elevator with him. So with much caution (as I did not want it to seem as though I suddenly had interest) I said "Haven't seen you in a long time." And do you know what he said to me?
The Great Gazoo: Oh yeah, I just got married a few weeks ago and I've been on my honeymoon for two weeks.
WHAT?! Sure enough, I take a peek at his finger and there is now a gold wedding band on his left hand. What a scumbag! First of all... I had ZERO interest in this guy. But what if I had been interested and took him up on his consistent hounding me for a date? What if I had fallen head over heels (HA! As if that would have ever happened but stay with me, folks) and decided that The Great Gazoo was amazing? And then after a month or so of dating he says "So I'm getting married next week. Wanna come?"
And what about his Fiancé? Poor thing! I feel horrible at the very idea that he was trying to ask me out while planning to get married to this piteous girl and I'm sure she has no idea that the man she loves is out there trying to get some last minute jollies before tying the knot. What a Douchebag with a capitol DOUCHE!
(In other, happier news, I got my cable and internet set up yesterday! HORRAY! And Mark got vacation day so we were able to hang out almost all day. w00t! We had a pretty good day.)
Well, I'm pretty much all settled. Mable is now "free to move about the cabin" as it were. Her current favorite past time is seeing which shelves, counters and tables she can jump up on. And I now have Air Conditioning after the hottest weekend if the year so far. And the Cable and internet should be set up on Wednesday if Time Warner doesn't screw up again. Mark took me to dinner on Saturday for (in his words) being so good to him. We were going to see a movie too but didn't have time so I took a rain check on that and we'll go later this week. It was really sweet of him! We went to Souplantaion. YUM! And Matt came over after and we all played us some Rock Band.
I'm still not feeling 100% about the move. I've been stressed and feeling a bit down but I've been trying very hard to have a positive outlook on things and I think I'm doing an okay job. Plus, Mark promised to spend the night every so often and that makes me happy. Its a nice thing to look forward to. We had a delightful nap in the only cool-ish room in the apartment on Sunday. LOL! Mark, Mable and I all stretched out by the fan. Now... if that damn IRS money would just get here I could buy myself a bed. That's all I want... and for my oven to work. Thank Buddha my apartment now has a temperature below 500 degrees at least. Its the little things that make me happy.
